Reopening Your Business During the Pandemic

September 30, 2020

Social distancing signsAs the country begins to lift restrictions and businesses start to reopen, it is up to business owners to ensure the continued safety of both staff and customers. For businesses that get a lot of traffic, social distancing and other safety measures may seem difficult to maintain. It’s important that these businesses develop policies prior to reopening.

Many states currently require patrons to maintain a distance of at least six feet from others. Businesses must also enforce mask mandates whenever possible. Regardless of the type of business or location, business owners must ensure staff and customers follow all appropriate rules.

Communication with customers is crucial to the success of any reopening plan. Without clear communication, customers have no way to know what’s expected while visiting the business. While communication can take many forms, the following describes the most common and effective solutions.

Social Distancing Signage

Placing signs at the entrance of buildings lets customers know the policies enforced. This might include a stand-alone sign in the doorway or vinyl decals on the door. Social distancing markers placed six feet apart throughout the building let customers know the appropriate distance they should keep between themselves and others. These stickers apply easily to the floor.

Masks

It’s not uncommon for people to forget to bring a mask. Many of us simply haven’t adjusted to our new normal. This is especially true for people visiting grocery and convenience stores. Offering custom printed masks increases revenue and ensures everyone stays safe and protected.

Plexiglass Divider Signage

Many shops put up Plexiglass dividers to keep employees separated from customers while completing transactions. Unfortunately, these dividers can make people feel uncomfortable and disconnected from others. Using brightly colored decals to decorate Plexiglass dividers and provide positive messages to patrons can lift their spirits and increase the chance of repeat business and referrals. During these uncertain times, it’s these little touches that often make the biggest difference.
